Good Morning
It's been a long morning today
Pig actually wanted to eat
Green honey dew melon instead of Pancakes.
She was pretty funny with
her nose in the melon as she was all wet.
She didn't care at all.
Pig loved it.
She looked up at me and then put her nose right in the middle of it again.
Yummy stuff.
Pig said, keeping in tradition of the light green fruit inside.☘️☘️☘️
As we continued together watching short videos on TV to see what was documented as to research more of St.Patricks Day.☘️☘️☘️
It was fun to see the cliffs and green pastures old churches and Pubs and special traditional foods and sheep grazing.
Lots of potatoes to cook different ways and of all kinds.
They love potatoes there.
I was sharing with Pig when I was little girl Mother made sure to have
us to wear Green ribbons in our hair or green socks on St.Patricks day.☘️
If you were not wearing green we would get chased on the playground and be pinched.
It was just another tradition we do.
Where that came from I don't know?
Pig said, I am glad you bought me my green tu tu..
Me too, you look so cute in it..
Big smiles that only she can do
With no mouth or lips.
Oh Funny Pig.
As she continued listening to my story.
The wisdom of the teacher would have a quick art project for all of us in class to cut out the shamrock on green construction paper.
Then the teacher told us of the story of St.Patrick and the pirates and how he came back to
Ireland from the big ship escape and then came back and made churches to pray there and to chase out all the evil Pirates on the island.
And then she would have us
get in line to have the green Shamrock that she would put on us.
Our teacher would share what the Shamrock meant Representing GOD in one Leaf.☘️☘️☘️
THE THREE IN
FATHER
SON
HOLY SPIRIT
Then pinned on the corner of our shirt or dress.
When recess time came to play.
No pinching on the agenda UNLESS
your Shamrock fell off.
Then the game of pinching would began again.
The popsicle man would have green popsicle's to sell that day.
Mother had green jello for us with fruit cocktail with real whip cream as a dessert for our dinner.
I don't remember having the traditional St. Patrick honoring meal of corn beef and cabbage and red potatoes that much except for my Granny.
The cabbage was stinky stuff to cook in the house.
Mother didn't care she liked it.
She told us it was good for us but did not force us to eat it.
Peanut butter and jelly was for dinner for us.
Granny was always eating strange things like cows tongue that she would have us pet before Mother would put it in the cooking pot then cooking it.
It was actually fun to pet it and feel the scratchy part of the tongue on our hands.
We were children and it was something more to learn.
The tongue of the cow gets peeled off after cooking it.
My sister and I watched Mother do it.
We didn't think about it much we just had tiny beef sandwiches that tasted really good.
As we ate at our blue chip stamp table we got by licking stamps at a blue chip redemption center catalog store.
Then we had our meal with our dolls and doll dishes.
It was just called fun.
We ate the beef tongue sandwiches with catsup.
But we ate everthing with catsup.
What did we know?
Other than it tasted good to us.
Funny
My Granny loved eating pickled pigs feet too.
Pickled eggs and pickled okra.
We didn't even want to try any of that.
Me either Pig said.
Your Granny was a nightmare to eat feet of pigs.
I can't even say it.
I guess that does sound scary.
Funny Pig.
So sorry.
But you could see she always really enjoyed it.
I don't want to hear this
Pig said.
These are terrible stories.
Pig I understand but these things really happened .
It's memory Pig and sometimes you just have to push through them.
Granny was nice to us Pig.
She read stories and played cards with us and told us stories.
Holidays were her favorite
She loved St,Patrick's Day
And
the stories and the foods.
Just like Thanksgiving
We always knew to save the turkey neck for my Granny she just loved it.
Funny Pig
that's what I love now to eat too.
I wonder if it happens to you when you get to be a Grandmother?
Pig said, I don't know
But that all sounds terrible.
You sound barbaric eating meat.
Pig, I eat meat because my teeth were made to eat meat.
Pig,You don't have teeth
And I understand that Pancakes and fruit and corn is your comfort food .
It's ok Pig ..
It's Ok For both of us to like different things.
Pig said ok.
I agree.
I just always want to be able tell you how I feel.
It's hard for me to hold back as you know.
As Pig is talking.
I am smiling as she is sharing her heart.
As Pig continued.
I didn't like any of that you said about the food Except the green popsicles and green jello with real whipped cream on it.
Funny Pig.
I can understand that.
Are you ok now?
Yes, she said. All is well as she continued
Listening to what I was going to say next.
We learned today about Psalm 63
And how both David in
The Bible like Patrick in similar parts of their life was also given the job of tending sheep.
David who wrote this Psalm 63 and most of the Psalms then Patrick recited it to bring comfort to him too.
They both dedicated their lives to GOD
And they both were totally devoted in their heart to GOD.
Always wanting to be pleasing and doing The will of GOD not for themselves but for the people.
GOD rescued them both in the hours of their great needs.
They both shared GOD to others for Salvation.
Just like GOD does for us now as we Pray and ask HIM.
Knowing GOD is with you always
Through it all.
The comfort of that thought is one to hold on too.
As Pig is just still
And listening to me.
I continued,
St. Patrick Day Pig, has changed over the years .
The Shamrock has lost its meaning other than People know it grows like in green grass covering the small mountain hills and valleys in Ireland.
It's very green and beautiful there and very cold with ocean views.
The shamrock now is like having
A lucky charm on a piece of jewelry or key chains as just a decoration to celebrate with as a memory for the St Patrick's day event.
Or you can buy a green tall hat that has a black buckle on it to wear as you enter food places on St. Patrick's Day to wear in Pubs or bars.
Then To order a green beer.
or your traditional cabbage and corn beef and red potatoes or fried potatoes that they call chips in Ireland.
Pig asked, does the green beer turn your mouth green like the popsicles do to your lips?
I don't know Pig ?
I never had one .
Oh,she said.
I do know they have a parade in
New York and in other towns to celebrate the Irish Patriot's and
The St.Patrick Legacy and Legends.that changed the world.
The People even made the river green once or twice to celebrate the day.☘️
But do they know what St.Patrick changed?
Probably not, Pig said.
They needed to know what
St. Patricks Day means.
That's why are sharing his story Pig.
I love that, Pig said.
Me too.☘️
Just like those in Ireland long ago that did not know who JESUS was.
HE IS THE SAVIOR of The WORLD and Ireland knows that NOW still proclaiming this still and back then too.
And then to share the legends what St. Patrick did to evangelize his beloved Ireland ☘️
How the people saved the
Bible throughout history and hid it from pirates and Vikings that were trying to steal and destroy the artifacts in the churches and burn up the monasteries on all the islands there.
To have hidden the hand written words
Of THE BIBLE and they were able over time to hide and preserve because it was hidden deep inside to be shared again with THE WORLD to know
THE TRUTH again.
So wonderful GOD HAD A PLAN.
Pig said that is all good and I am glad.
But I want to know about the pot of gold stories?
Is the gold at the end of the rainbow?
And the leprechauns ?
What are they?
Are they the wee little people that live under the ground and would hide and play and dance at night by the fires ?
Sing songs and hide things from people ?
So it's had for them to find things.
The Practical jokers it is told and take things like money and food ?
As Pig continued, like they do in my fairy tale books.
Well Pig,
Most of that is not really good.
I answered her carefully like this.
Do you remember the Rumplestiltskins story?
Pig started to say,
Yes and then no.
The story was about
How this young girl that was engaged to be married to the KING
because it was said by her Father she was able to spin the thread into gold.
She knew it was a lie. Her Father did too.
But her Father was hoping to save her from starvation and a chance to have her Marry and her life to be saved.
The leprechaun entered her cell that they put her in .
The dungeon was cold and the spinning wheel was placed in there with straw.
He said to her that if he helped her spin the GOLD that she would have to give him her the first born baby.
She said, ok out of desperation .
He helped her SPIN THE GOLD from straw
and then the KING saw it .
That is was all true and then
She was married to the KING.
Soon she was ready to have her baby
And he the leprechaun appeared back to her.
He told her to remember her promise.
How could she give her baby to him?
She was foolish to make that kind of promise.
As she said to him is there anything she could do?
He admitted that it wasn't quite fair
But if she could discover his name
Before so many days
He would release her from her promise.
He laughed knowing the baby was as good as his.
Pig think about it?
What was he going to do with a human baby?
I don't know Pig said.
But it doesn't seem to good to me.
I know, that's what I think too.
The leprechaun was about 12 inches tall and very old and really creepy looking?
He was like an old elf like creature with a wicked laugh.
Not a fun creature to have around.
Not to much time left as he gave her three chances.
And only one more day left to know his name.
She was desperate and had to save her baby.
So She sneak out of the Castle and followed him far into the forest he had a fire going and dancing and jumping around singing.
He evidently was pretty confident because in the stories
I've read as a child it's very unusual to find the places they are.
She was very quiet as she listened and watched him.
He said the names out loud she had guessed out loud
And then he said she will never know that Rumplestilskin is my name.
Her heart leaped inside her as she heard the name .
She felt the mercy of GOD.
Now knowing his name.
She was ready for his arrival.
Her baby was now saved.
The promise can now be broken.
He came back to see her the next day and planned to pick up the baby.
She said to him, How many names can I say ?
He said 3 more chances.
She named to more names and then said is it Rumplestilkins ?
He was furious and turned colors and then disappeared before her.
Never to be seen again.
So you can decide for your self
If leprechauns are good or bad.
In the commercials for
The Lucky charms cereal they make them sound so fun and kinda of an ugly cute and mysterious.
The oat cereal was good with charms and wishes with lots of rainbows and pots of gold in marshmallows in different shapes and sugar.
As a child I got to eat it sometimes.
So yummy and when you poured the milk in the bowl it changed the color of the milk to green.
This was a St. Patrick day celebrated for breakfast Fun.
Captain crunch was better tasting cereal but it was so crunchy it scratched the roof of your mouth.
We didn't care we were children.
Wow,
Pig said that sounds painful
It was.
But we were eating sugar and we were children and didn't know any better.
We just knew it seemed fun.
That's why Parents are there to guide you and to say NO to you.
Just a treat not every day.
That's what GOD does for us
He is our HEAVENLY FATHER
We need JESUS.
We need THE HOLY SPIRIT
To Pray to ask and JESUS into
Your heart.
To Protect us from the enemy
That constantly wants to deceive
Us ..
But GOD WHEN WE PRAY
OPENS OUR EYES
And
LOVES US ALWAYS.
Happy ST. Patrick's Day ☘️
In a new way by knowing now who ST.Patrick was and what he did.
Our story from Pig and me.☘️☘️☘️
